Why do we have to wear clothes?

I know it is silly question but I'd like to know that's all. I think being naked in public is normally natural since about hundred of thousands year ago. What WAS make us wear clothes in first place? Is it because we are no longer kinda ape? Is it because our skin getting colder so easy after no more hairy body like ape? Just out of curious.
